Resumes of Key Staff Members Association Reserves, Inc. A registered professional engineer, Mr. Nordlund has been involved in the Community Associations industry since 1982. As President of his own homeowners association, Mr. Nordlund recognized how vital long-term reserve planning was to the health of a common interest development. In 1986 he founded Association Reserves, Inc. and pioneered many widely used reserve funding concepts. He is recognized nationally as an expert on reserve funding issues and has authored numerous articles on the subject. Mr. Nordlund is a past Chairman of CAI's Reserve Professionals Committee, past Chairman of the Association of Professional Reserve Analysts, past President of the Community Association's Institute (CAI) Greater Los Angeles Chapter, and a frequent speaker in industry-sponsored seminars and presentations throughout the United States. He is a 1980 graduate of the University of Washington and a member of the prestigious engineering honor society, Tau Beta Pi. A registered professional engineer, Ms. Schrader has served since 1986 as the head of our administration and marketing departments. She has extensive experience in all aspects of Community Association operations and oversees all administrative and marketing functions. Ms. Schrader served as Treasurer of her own homeowners association. Prior to joining Association Reserves, Inc., she owned and operated a condominium management company called Custom Services. Ms. Schrader is a 1980 cum laude graduate of Duke University and spent the early part of her engineering career working as a Project Manager on various Energy Programs at Rockwell International.
Kris Barger joined our staff in 1995 with a background in customer service. Kris has the responsibility of shaping our company image in all outside relationships by handling trade organizations, advertising, trade shows, and our newsletter. Kris counsels prospective clients through the choices of services offered, supplying them with the information necessary to make an informed decision. Kris also works with all clients who select our Reserve Study services, seeing to it that all necessary information from the client has been received in order for Association Reserves to begin working on the Reserve Study. Jeanine arrived at Association Reserves with a background in competitive sports, customer service, and contractural compliance. Jeanine's strong financial and customer relation capabilities are a powerful skill set that complement her ability to distinguish what it means for the job to be done "right". Naomi Obana, RS Naomi joined the Association Reserves, San Francisco office in 2008 with bachelor's degrees in both Business/ Economics and Communication Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her prior work experience in finance and client relations provide her with a solid business background, essential in developing effective strategic recommendations while keeping the client's needs a number one priority. The combination of her analytical skills and hands-on Real Estate experience suits her well in her position with Association Reserves. He has a wide range of experience in residential and commercial design, structural detailing, working with city and county governments, and had Department of Defense clearance to manage conversion of plans & specifications for government aerospace and nuclear facilities. Eric also has experience as a project manager/drafter on multiple building envelope waterproofing projects, which entailed forensic investigation through design/detailing to final construction for single-family housing, condominium, and apartment properties. Carol Serrano has been a member of the ARI staff since 1994. Prior to that time, she worked for a major Southern California developer. As Office Manager, Carol's position requires not only efficiency and strong organizational skills, but impeccable attention to detail in order to keep our operation running smoothly. He has over 20 years of architectural experience including multi-family design, repair and renovation, building envelope issues, and reserve study preparation. Multi-family building types include condominiums, senior, and low-income housing facilities. Mr. Vlaming joined our staff in 1996 after receiving his business degree from California State University, Northridge. In his years with Association Reserves, DJ has completed over 1,200 Reserve Studies for properties that range from simple planned unit developments to complex town homes and resorts. Association Reserves Colorado Carmine joined the Association Reserves team in September 2007,taking over ongoing operation of our existing Colorado office. Carmine brings to our clients 23 years of experience in residential and commercial construction. Originally a graduate of Eastern Washington University and with a background in construction management and engineering, Mike managed a townhouse condominium property on the Big Island of Hawaii for 6 years and has served on committees for the master association. While a field representative for Association Reserves in Hawaii beginning in 2004, he has performed Reserve Studies for a wide variety of clients throughout the islands including a 40-story high rise in Honolulu, a residential association on Molokai, a 12,000 Sq Ft corporate-owned home on the Big Island, and commercial properties on Kauai. His blend of site inspection skills, technical skills, and depth of experience allowed Mike to take full responsibility for our Hawaii client base in 2006. Mr. Nash is an architect and was the Director of Operations for the corporate office from 1989 to 2009. In Spring 2009 Jim took on the new challenge of launching a regional office to serve the numerous associations in California's large San Bernardino and Riverside County areas. Jim has extensive experience in the Reserve Study industry, having conducted over 1,000 site inspections throughout the United States, often on large, complicated, out-of-state assignments. Jim has widespread construction experience with a variety of facilities, serving residential, commercial, industrial, resort, and recreational interests. Ahmed Hann is a graduate of California State University, Northridge with a B.S. in Business Management with a Marketing emphasis. He joined Association Reserves in 2005, and as a Project Manager Ahmed completed reserve studies for clients ranging from simple planned unit developments to large-scale developments with over 4,000 units with golf courses and lakes, high rises over 40 stories tall, condominium towers, commercial properties, schools, and resorts. In summer 2007, Ahmed moved to Las Vegas to open and take on full responsibility for overseeing our regional office in Nevada. Association Reserves San Diego Matthew joined Association Reserves in 2005 as a recent Physics graduate from California Lutheran University. This background has given him a wide range of knowledge in mathematics, electronics, and fluid mechanics, which provides significant strengths as he models complex physical and financial change at client properties. In Spring 2008 Matthew moved to San Diego to open a regional office in order to better serve the needs of our growing portfolio of San Diego clients. While in San Diego, Matthew has coordinated major projects for national clients as well as catering to a variety of local residential facilities ranging from 6-unit condominium properties to a number of downtown lofts and high-rises. Matthew also has been recognized as a leading educator of Reserve topics through seminars he has taught at local management firms as well as Masters-level real estate courses through San Diego State University.
