Association Reserves, Inc.

Robert M. Nordlund, P.E., R.S.
President

A registered professional engineer, Mr. Nordlund has been involved in the Community Associations industry since 1982. As President of his own homeowners association, Mr. Nordlund recognized how vital long-term reserve planning was to the health of a common interest development. In 1986 he founded Association Reserves, Inc. and pioneered many widely used reserve funding concepts. He is recognized nationally as an expert on reserve funding issues and has authored numerous articles on the subject. Mr. Nordlund is a past Chairman of CAI's Reserve Professionals Committee, past Chairman of the Association of Professional Reserve Analysts, past President of the Community Association's Institute (CAI) Greater Los Angeles Chapter, and a frequent speaker in industry-sponsored seminars and presentations throughout the United States. He is a 1980 graduate of the University of Washington and a member of the prestigious engineering honor society, Tau Beta Pi. Prior to forming Association Reserves, Mr. Nordlund worked as a Lead Engineer at Rockwell International on the Space Shuttle Program.

Cathy Schrader, P.E.
Director of Administration & Marketing

A registered professional engineer, Ms. Schrader has served since 1986 as the head of our administration and marketing departments. She has extensive experience in all aspects of Community Association operations and oversees all administrative and marketing functions. Ms. Schrader served as Treasurer of her own homeowners association. Prior to joining Association Reserves, Inc., she owned and operated a condominium management company called Custom Services. Ms. Schrader is a 1980 cum laude graduate of Duke University and spent the early part of her engineering career working as a Project Manager on various Energy Programs at Rockwell International.

James M. Nash, R.S.
Director of Operations

Mr. Nash is an architect and has supervised our Reserve Study production staff since 1989. He has conducted over 1,000 site inspections throughout the United States. Mr. Nash is usually called upon to oversee our larger, out-of-state inspection assignments. He has widespread construction experience in a variety of facilities, serving residential, commercial, industrial, resort, and recreational interests. He is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University. Prior to joining Association Reserves, Inc., Mr. Nash worked as an architect and city planner for various Southern California cities.

Sean Kargari, R.S.
Senior Project Manager

A graduate of Cal State University, Northridge, Sean joined Association Reserves in June of 2003 as an intern, rising quickly in capabilities to the Project Manager position. With significant leadership experience in college, Sean offers our clients his keen ability to identify opportunities and blind spots. Sean uses these insights to help our clients make wise decisions regarding the maintenance and funding of common area components, and has an ability to craft a Report so budget recommendations can be realistically implemented by association Boards and management. Sean enjoys scuba diving and is currently working on advancing his certification level up to Dive Master in 2007.

Bobby Blankenship, R.S.
Operations Manager

Bobby joined Association Reserves in June 2005 as an intern and was quickly promoted to a permanent member of the Production Staff. He completed his Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Real Estate and Finance at Texas Christian University in May 2003. After years of playing college football, Bobby remains active with volleyball and surfing. Bobby has quickly become a key Production Staff member, assisting and taking lead roles on local residential and out-of-state vacation resort properties.

Jeanine Nicholson
Project Coordinator

Jeanine joined Association Reserves in 2007 with a Business Administration degree (with a concentration in Finance) from the California Lutheran University. Jeanine arrived at Association Reserves with a background in competitive sports, customer service, and contractural compliance. Jeanine's strong financial and customer relation capabilities are a powerful skill set that complement her ability to distinguish what it means for the job to be done "right".

Lauren Rojo, R.S.
Project Manager  

Lauren joined our staff in 2005 after graduation from San Diego State University. A "natural" to this field, within just a few months Lauren was working on complicated high-rise projects, managing client expectations and anxieties as well as the physical and financial aspects of the position. Lauren is our first employee to transfer offices, moving from the corporate office to the expanding opportunities in the new San Francisco office.

Kelly Russell
Office/Marketing Manager (San Francisco)  

Kelly joined the Association Reserves in September 2007 after graduating from San Francisco State University with a Business Administration degree (with a concentration in Marketing). In her free time Kelly enjoys outdoor water spots and boating by summer and the ski slopes in winter months. Her cheerful personality and delicate touch with clients propelled her into her current position as Office/Marketing Manager for our San Francisco office.

Nathan Steinbacher
Project Coordinator

Nathan joined the Association Reserves team in 2007. Nathan brings with him a 2004 degree in Public Policy (Planning and Development) from the University of Southern California, the maturity gained from playing on their National Championship football team, and hands-on property management experience. Nathan has seen properties from both the construction side and the property management side, perspectives that give him a unique ability to understand and serve the needs of our clients.

Ashlie Watts
Project Coordinator

Ashlie joined Association Reserves in 2007 after graduating in 2003 with a B.S. in Business Communications from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Growing up in a construction management and contracting family, Ashlie brings experience and intuition beyond her professional years. Ashlie came to Association Reserves from Kansas City, MO and brings with her a love for running, yoga, dance, and other physical activities.

Kris Barger
Marketing Manager

Kris Barger joined our staff in 1995 with a background in customer service. Kris has the responsibility of shaping our company image in all outside relationships by handling trade organizations, advertising, trade shows, and our newsletter. Kris counsels prospective clients through the choices of services offered, supplying them with the information necessary to make an informed decision. Kris also works with all clients who select our Reserve Study services, seeing to it that all necessary information from the client has been received in order for Association Reserves to begin working on the Reserve Study.

Carol Serrano
Office Manager

Carol Serrano has been a member of the ARI staff since 1994. Prior to that time, she worked for a major Southern California developer. As Office Manager, Carol's position requires not only efficiency and strong organizational skills, but impeccable attention to detail in order to keep our operation running smoothly. Carol graduated from California State University Northridge, and lives in Simi Valley with her husband Keith, and their two boys, Kyle and Cody.

D.J. Vlaming, R.S.
President and Co-Owner of Association Reserves Arizona, LLC

Mr. Vlaming joined our staff in 1996 after receiving his business degree from California State University, Northridge. In his years with Association Reserves, DJ has completed over 1,200 Reserve Studies for properties that range from simple planned unit developments to complex town homes and resorts. In Spring 2003, Mr. Vlaming took on full responsibility of overseeing our regional office in Phoenix, Arizona.

Carmine DeLisio
President and Co-Owner of Association Reserves – Colorado, LLC

Carmine joined the Association Reserves team in September 2007,taking over ongoing operation of our existing Colorado office. Carmine brings to our clients 23 years of experience in residential and commercial construction. In addition to his hands-on construction experience, Carmine brings to our Reserve Study clients the customer service, budget, inspection, and scheduling skills gained from the years he served as a Construction Project Manager on single and multi-family residential and commercial facilities (schools, nursing, and recreational).

Association Reserves Hawaii

Mike Price, C.M.C.A.
President and Co-Owner of Association Reserves Hawaii, LLC

Originally a graduate of Eastern Washington University and with a background in construction management and engineering, Mike managed a townhouse condominium property on the Big Island of Hawaii for 6 years and has served on committees for the master association. While a field representative for Association Reserves in Hawaii beginning in 2004, he has performed Reserve Studies for a wide variety of clients throughout the islands including a 40-story high rise in Honolulu, a residential association on Molokai, a 12,000 Sq Ft corporate-owned home on the Big Island, and commercial properties on Kauai. His blend of site inspection skills, technical skills, and depth of experience allowed Mike to take full responsibility for our Hawaii client base in 2006. His knowledge of association management, construction, and the nuances of life in Hawaii provide our clients with sound financial planning and Aloha service.

Ahmed Hann, R.S.
President and Co-Owner of Association Reserves - Nevada, LLC

Ahmed holds a Bachelor of Science in Business & Economics with a concentration in Marketing from Cal State University, Northridge. He joined Association Reserves, Inc., in April 2005. Ahmed is fluent in French and has a strong background in management and customer service. Clients enjoy his accent and the careful touch he brings to his Reserve Study assignments. In his free time, Ahmed enjoys his growing family and producing music. In Summer 2007, Ahmed took on full responsibility for overseeing our regional office in Las Vegas.

Sean Andersen, R.S.

Mr. Andersen joined the company in 1999 after graduating from California State University Northridge with a degree in Political Science. Sean's hobbies include history and politics, baseball, and football. After demonstrating a successful ability to manage our Northern California clients, in Spring 2003 Sean moved to Huntington Beach, CA to open and take full responsibility for our regional Orange County office.

Mathew Swain, R.S.
President & Co-Owner of Association Reserves San Diego, LLC

Matt joined Association Reserves in 2005 as a recent Physics graduate from California Lutheran University. This background has given him a wide range of knowledge in mathematics, electronics, and fluid mechanics, which provides significant strengths as he models complex physical and financial change at client properties. As a Project Manager, Matt has coordinated major projects for national clients as well as catering to a variety of local residential facilities ranging from a 3-unit condominium property to a number of downtown lofts and high-rises. In Spring 2008 Matt moved to San Diego to open a regional office in order to better serve the needs of our growing portfolio of San Diego clients.

Derek Eckert, R.S.
President and Co-Owner of Association Reserves - San Francisco, LLC

Derek joined Association Reserves in June of 2004 with a degree in
Business Management from Cal State University, Northridge. During his tenure with our firm, Derek has traveled nationally to serve residential, resort, and business clients. Derek comes with a valuable background in theme park operations and management. This background of physical, financial, and staffing expertise has honed Derek's ability to work with teams of decision-makers, within budget limitations, to accomplish projects of significant physical importance. In Spring of 2007, Derek took on full responsibility for overseeing our regional office in San Francisco, CA.

Jim Talaga, R.S.
President and Co-Owner of Association Reserves Washington, LLC

Jim is a credentialed Reserve Specialist, former member of the CAI-WA Board of Directors, and current member of their Legislative Action Committee. With nearly twenty years experience in construction project management, real estate appraisal, and Reserve Study preparation, he is very knowledgeable regarding the factors unique to the Pacific Northwest. Beginning as an Association Reserves site inspector in 1997, Jim has participated in over 1,000 Reserve Studies, ranging from a four-unit condominium to high rises over 30 stories tall, properties over 1,000 units with marinas, golf courses, etc. Mr. Talaga is a noted author, speaker, and instructor within the industry. He is also a former Vice-President of his own Homeowners Association.
