Nearly Four Decades of Reserve Study Leadership
Association Reserves was founded in 1986 to answer a question community leaders had no reliable way to answer: what will this property need, when will it need it, and how much should we be setting aside today?
Four decades later, that question has produced more than 100,000 Reserve Studies for over 25,000 properties in all 50 states, and more than $14.2 Billion in professional funding guidance. We remain independently owned, and we operate through 16 regional offices led by credentialed Reserve Specialists who know the construction costs, weather patterns, and requirements in the markets they serve.
- 1986 – Robert Nordlund, PE leaves Rockwell International to establish Association Reserves
- 1988 – Association Reserves hires their first employee
- 1993 – Develops the DIY Reserve Study Kit and starts working on Reserve Study Standards
- 1996 – Prints Reserve Studies in color for the first time. Also acquires reservestudy.com and launches website
- 1997 – Reaches the milestone of 1,000 completed Reserve Studies
- 1998 – Develops digital client database, delivers first Reserve Study with digital photos, and CAI adopts National Reserve Study Standards & Reserve Specialist credential
- 1999 – First international Reserve Study for a client in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
- 2001 – Opens regional offices in Colorado and Washington. First Reserve Study delivered via email, and reaches the milestone of 10,000 completed Reserve Studies
- 2003 – Opens offices in Orange County, CA and Arizona
- 2005 – Creates web-posting technology for completed reports
- 2006 – Opens office in Hawaii and launches 3-year “Flat Fee” Loyalty Update Program
- 2007 – Opens offices in Nevada and San Francisco, CA
- 2008 – Opens office in San Diego, CA
- 2009 – Opens office in Inland Empire, CA
- 2011 – Opens office in Florida, reaches the milestone of 20,000 completed Reserve Studies, and hosts first webinar
- 2014 – Reaches the milestone of 30,000 completed Reserve Studies
- 2016 – Reaches the milestone of 40,000 completed Reserve Studies, celebrated company’s 25th anniversary, and opens office in North Carolina
- 2018 – Opens office in Texas
- 2019 – Reaches the milestone of 50,000 completed Reserve Studies. Company rebrands and updates website
- 2020 – Launches uPlanIt and reaches the milestone of 60,000 completed Reserve Studies
- 2021 – Reaches the milestone of 70,000 completed Reserve Studies
- 2022 – Opens office in Ohio
- 2023 – Reaches the milestone of 80,000 completed Reserve Studies, launches podcast, and opens office in Virginia
- 2024 – Opens offices in New Jersey and New Mexico
- 2025 – Reaches the milestone of 100,000 completed Reserve Studies
